Okabe Rintaro, often nicknamed Okarin, is the self-proclaimed insane mad scientist Hououin Kyouma.
He lives in Ikebukuro with his parents, where he is neighbors with his childhood friend Mayuri Shiina, but temporarily moved into the Future Gadget Lab over the summer of 2010.
